BSD offers its members the following:

To promote the health and welfare of the community as a whole, particularly through optimum use of the skills, knowledge experience and presence of general medical practitioners;
To facilitate and co-ordinate the planning and delivery of a sustainable, effective and equitable general practice and primary health care network in our District, and across the wider community;
To promote and develop effective liaison and co-operation between primary care and other sectors of the health system;
To explore, develop and promote community awareness and knowledge of, and competence in, health-related issues, including preventative health measures and healthy lifestyles and practices;
To facilitate and co-ordinate research in primary care;
To promote involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education by general practitioners and other primary health care workers;
To enhance educational and professional opportunities for Members;
To maintain the professional autonomy of its Members;
To conduct its own business affairs ethically, and maintain effective corporate governance; and
To become involved in those activities which the company may from time to time deem within the area of its competence and responsibility to the community.
