New Community Program - Chain Reaction
The Connecting Communities project works within the southern Brisbane region to provide sustainable supports for families and people affected by mental illness.
Our new exciting program, Chain Reaction, is attempting to link those within our community who are on the road to recovery from a mental illness with a volunteer who would give up an hour or two of their time a week to accompany them on shopping excursions, coffee catch-ups, or other ventures that would make their lives a little more enjoyable and provide them with hope, meaning, purpose and direction, social inclusion, connectedness and empowerment.
We are currently recruiting volunteers who believe that this is something they would be keen to be involved in. Brisbane South Division will provide training and monthly meetings to discuss concerns which may arise with our psychologist.
Brisbane South Division is a membership organisation run by a Board elected by members to support general practice and primary health care in providing quality care to the community. The focus of the Division is on the development of sustainable programs that make continuous small steps towards better business outcomes for general practice and better health outcomes for local residents.
Our aim is to have bi monthly social events for all our volunteers and those with whom they have befriended, this may be in the form of BBQ’s, bare foot bowls, movie outings etc. as well as individual weekly get-to-gethers.
If this something in which you would love to be involved in and would like to find out more then please call Kathleen Keighron at Brisbane South Division on 3306 1052 or via email
