Public Health Alert - PROTECT Phase of H1N1 Pandemic
Australia remains in the PROTECT Phase of the H1N1 Pandemic declared in June 2009.
Queensland Health is strongly encouraging General Practitioners to continue to promote Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 vaccination (Panvax® H1N1) to all their patients from 6 months of age as the potential for a second wave of the pandemic is at its highest probability.
Community pharmacies still hold stock of National Medicines Stockpile (NMS) Tamiflu® and are able to supply this medication for patients who meet the Commonwealth’s criteria.
The role of general practices to vaccinate and prescribe Tamiflu® from the National Medicines Stockpile (NMS) remains essential while the PROTECT Phase continues.
