Indigenous Child Health
Overview
The Indigenous Child Health project aims to provide and promote health related issues within the Southside District. Establish networking relationships with the following community agencies:
- Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
- General Practitioners
- Department of Education, Training and the Arts
- Community Organisations
- Indigenous Health Workers
Objectives
- Planning and Implement Culturally Appropriate Resources to the community
- Raise Awareness on health related issues by providing education and promotional resources
- Target Child Health Checks for Indigenous Children 4-12 years of age
- Working in Partnership with Children, Parents, Schools and Community Organisation
- Implement early intervention and prevention initiatives aimed at Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander School age children and their families
The outcomes of the Indigenous Program include:
- Raise Awareness and Knowledge of health issues by delivering health promotional activities and resources within the community
- Strengthen Families and Communities by providing support and engaging good working relationships
- Increase number of Child Health Checks 4-12 years and meet all 8 key components of the Indigenous Child Health Program within the community.

There are 8 key components that the Indigenous Child Health Program will target:
- Child Health Checks 4-12 years
- Indigenous Triple P
- Health Activities and Nutrition
- Hearing Health
- Unintentional Injury
- Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug related harm
- Skin Infections
- Immunisations
